Splash Journal is written by Sarafina Rose DeMarco. That's me. You can call me Sandy. Your parents will probably say, "She's just a fictional character." But that's okay. I'm not insulted. Some of my best friends are fictional characters. And don't forget the famous ones like Batman, Superman, Sherlock Holmes and Indiana Jones. I wish I was that famous, but I am not. Parents underestimate the power of our imagination. If your mom and dad want to know more about who created me, click here.
Every time you write, speak, or sign a word you drop your pebble into the world. The splash of those pebbles cause a ripple effect on the world around you. And if you choose wisely, your pebbles will create a splash strong enough to ripple forever.
I find the best way for me to be conscious of my actions and words is to keep a journal. I've been writing in one ever since I can remember. It's nothing special just whatever is on my mind. But I always feel better after I write things down, no matter how horrible it was that day. And it doesn't get me into trouble like when I tell my twin brother, Dante, to go away and stop bothering me. It's the only way I can prevent myself from speaking my mind. Not that it would matter. He can't hear me anyway. But Ma can, so speaking my mind will only get me into trouble. And that never works out in my favor!
You'll find after writing in your journal just once you'll have the urge to do it again and again. Write down everything. And I mean everything! Everything you see, hear, taste, smell or touch. Yeah, everything. Write down your conversations too, especially when you're really mad, like when your brother or sister bothers you. Write down what both of you said, then close your journal and don't read it for a whole week. Yeah, a whole week. You'll be amazed at how much you'll learn from your conversation a week later. The words take on a whole different meaning once you're no longer angry.
